Join Our Toastmaster’s Club

It’s easy to join our club. Come along at no cost to two or three meetings to judge if it’s for you. You’ll receive a friendly welcome and not have to speak unless you really want to. This way you can learn all about Toastmasters and its benefits.

Fortnightly Meetings

Attend our fortnightly meetings and practise public speaking in front of a friendly, supportive audience of likeminded people. All feedback is positive and constructive. You’ll find your confidence and abilities rapidly improve.

Access Pathways

Pathways is the web learning site provided by Toastmasters International for setting and tracking your Toastmasters’ journey. It contains interactive modules, videos and lots of useful advice.

Once signed up, you’ll be given access to Pathways. You’ll receive recognition and awards as you progress through the various levels.

Toastmaster Magazine

Every member receives a monthly edition of the Toastmaster magazine, which offers a range of tips on becoming a more effective speaker.

Networking Opportunities

Worldwide there are over 360,000 members of Toastmasters International. Within New Zealand there are nearly 5,000 members spread across 280 clubs. You’ll not only be able to network with the folk in Ohariu club, but many other clubs in the Wellington area.

Ohariu club currently has 25 members coming from diverse sections of the community. Some are professionals such as accountants and nurses, while others are students, writers and retirees. Our ages range from people in their twenties to others over seventy. Over sixty percent of our present club are ESOL (English as a Second Language) members from a wide variety of cultures.

How Much Does It Cost?

To join Ohariu Toastmasters there is an initial sign up fee of $50, which is used to register with Toastmasters International and covers the first month of membership. After this you can either pay a fee of $120 to be a member for 6 months. Fees go towards room hire, Toastmasters fees, social functions and club supplies.

Interesting fact – the cost of Ohariu Toastmasters membership is less that one flat white coffee a week.
