OHARIU TOASTMASTERS CLUB
Become A Confident Public Speaker!

We embrace opportunities!
Here’s club member Tim getting right outside his comfort zone! Tim agreed to act as one of the Masters of Ceremonies for the 2025 District 72 Conference. The Conference was held at Parliament 10-11 May 2025. Photo shows Tim operating from the lecturn inside the Legislative Council Chamber.
Tim was joined by club members Coralie, Ros and Jeremy in other roles during the conference. Coralie, a relatively new member, introduced the Toastmasters International President, who attended the Conference.
Toastmasters provides the opportunities for personal growth through new experiences in speaking and planning. All you have to do is embrace those opportunities, and strap in for the ride. You’ll learn in a real-world environment in an organisation of volunteers. If you can inspire people who can choose not to engage, think what you could do in your workplace.

Ohariu Toastmasters wins recognition
Here’s our president Glen receiving a recognition certificate for becoming what we call a Select Distinguished Club. It’s recognition for our care of members over the past 12 months, since it recognises that we have helped members to progress through their Toastmasters learning. Only two clubs in north Wellington achieved this award for the July-June Toastmasters year! Great work, team!

What We Do
Build Public Speaking Skills:
Most of us have experienced the uncomfortable feeling of being asked to speak in public. Toastmasters is a place where you can learn techniques and practice speaking so that, when these opportunities arise, you can approach them with confidence and deliver an exceptional performance.
Make Lasting Friendships:
Toastmasters is a great way to meet new people and build connections. We care about helping people achieve their goals. We provide a warm, friendly environment where you’ll feel supported.
Become Leaders:
Toastmasters is where leaders are made. The communication skills learned in our club can help you be successful in your career, or any aspect of your life.
Be The Best Version Of You:
Confidence will set you free! Imagine being able to stand up in front of an audience without feeling anxiety. Imagine being able to impress them with your energy and charisma. This is the version of yourself we can help you achieve.
