Welcome

OHARIU TOASTMASTERS CLUB

Become A Confident Public Speaker

What Toastmasters Do

Build Public Speaking Skills:

Most of us have experienced the uncomfortable feeling of being asked to speak in public. Toastmasters is a place where you can learn techniques and practice speaking so that, when these opportunities arise, you can approach them with confidence and deliver an exceptional performance.

Make Lasting Friendships:

Toastmasters is a great way to meet new people and build connections. We care about helping people achieve their goals and provide a warm, friendly environment where you’ll feel supported.

Become A Leader:

Toastmasters is where leaders are made. The communication skills learned in our club can help you be successful in your career or any aspect of your life.

Be The Best Version Of You:

Confidence will set you free! Imagine being able to stand up in front of an audience without feeling anxiety. Imagine being able to impress them with your energy and charisma. This is the version of yourself we can help you achieve.

Why Ohariu Club?

If you live or work in the northern suburbs of Wellington – and even if you don’t – then Ohariu club is for you.

We are a friendly, diverse club with something for everyone. We have members who are professionals such as accountants and nurses, as well as students, writers, and retirees. Our ages range from people in their twenties to seniors over seventy. As well as New Zealand are roots are worldwide, with some of us originating in India, China, UK, South Africa and Fiji.

One of our longstanding members is Glen Pearce, who is also one of the top three Officers of District 72 Toastmasters (lower half of the North Island and the whole of the South Island). You’ll be in good company.

Visit Our Next Meeting

We meet every second Tuesday, 6pm, at Johnsonville Community Centre. Anyone can attend – at no cost for first three meetings – to see how Toastmasters works. Don’t worry, there’ll be no pressure to speak on your first visit. You can sit back, watch and say nothing, though, if you want to join in there’ll be opportunity to introduce yourself too.

For our next meeting see our schedule of meetings in 2023 . It will be on a Tuesday at 6pm at Johnsonville Community Centre. Aim to arrive five or ten minutes before so you can meet a few of the regular members.

Drop a message via our Facebook page if you would like to attend a meeting… Looking forward to seeing you there…
